Former Manufacturing Facilities to be Redeveloped

It was recently announced by Mayor John DeStefano Jr. and Governor M. Jodi Rell that New Haven will be redeveloping the former Winchester factory just north of Yale University.

Everyone at UHL is happy to see the people and officials of New Haven continue to invest time, effort and money into the aging infrastructure of some of our fallen neighborhoods. Many of these areas are tempting to ignore, but more and more of them are being renovated for the good of our city.

Mattress Tips: Recycling Your Mattress

Q: I’m going to get rid of my mattress but I’m not sure how to.

A: There are plenty of charitable organizations that can use beds, like Teen Challenge. If you don’t have any of these in your area or they’re not accepting mattress donations than you can try to find somewhere that will recycle it. They’ll take the mattress apart and recycle the individual materials. You can also use online resources like Craigslist and FreeCycle.org to find anyone who may be in need of a free mattress. Each of these options is preferable than bringing it to a landfill.
